26.5R25 ETSM Case Study in Zambian Underground Copper Mine LOWER CPH & DOWNTIME BY CONSISTENT PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS
The Background

In this underground copper mine, over 70% of the roads are flooded and at a slope of 9° and above. Therefore, tires are confronted with severe cuts from sharp hard rocks when LHDs go uphill.

To help our end user lower the CPH and downtime, Techking team consistently improved 26.5R25 ETSM in the past years. The Techking team visited the jobsite 3-4 times per year to collect tire performance data and provide training to the end user’s technical team. Techking's local partner also help provide comprehensive after-sales services on-site.

The Challenge
  • Severe road conditions
  • Flooded roadway
  • Roads at a steep slope
The Solution

By making consistent product improvements, the average tire life of 26.5R25 ETSM in 2021 reached 972 hours, about 26% longer than what we collected in 2019.

Besides, The Techking team visited the jobsite 3-4 times per year to collect tire performance data and provide training to the end user. Techking’s local partner also provided comprehensive and beneficial after-sales services.

With our joint efforts, over 90% of the 26.5R25 L5S tires used in this underground mine are ETSM from Techking.

The Future

At this moment, Techking is upgrading its Generation II LHD product PROLHD. With the positive experience of using 26.5R25 ETSM,  the end user is willing to test 26.5R25 PROLHD.

In September, we shipped the first batch of PROLHD tires to our end user. They will mount them in December to test. We are confident that with new improvements 26.5R25 PROLHD will create more value for the end user.
